Deception Pass Bridge, that is! Deception Pass Bridge connects Fidalgo Island with Whidbey Island and the Deception Pass State Park is the second most visited park in Washington. And, wow. Is it beautiful! Matt and I saw Deception Pass on our first visit to Anacortes in November, and I loved it immediately. I’m so excited to be able to view this bridge whenever I want! There are many little hiking trails and beaches throughout this park that I hope to explore in the near future.

Friday was supposed to be our last full day in Washington. However, Wednesday evening Reaghan started feeling sick. She was complaining about an upset stomach. I thought it might be from being on the boat for the whale tour. But, early the next morning Reaghan woke us up saying that she felt like she was going to throw up – then she did. Thursday during the day she seemed better. However that night she was sick again. Only this time with diarrhea. After 4 days, we are still battling this. So much so that there was no way we could have gotten on a plane. So…. here we are, stuck in Washington! Fortunately, Reaghan was OK enough to ride around in the car. We just had to make sure a gas station was close by so we could stop to let her use the bathroom.
Up until the sickness we had a great trip. We got a lot accomplished. I was able to look at many houses and different areas of the island, so now I have a good feel for where we’d like to live. I also had the opportunity to talk with several people about occupational therapy job opportunities and I am excited about those possibilities. I feel certain that everything will work out for us regarding the sale of our home, the move and finding a new home and a new job for me. It’s hard to just not knowing the details, being the control freak that I am. I know it’s not up to my timeline. God has a plan and his own timeline and I fully trust in Him.
Matt has a beautiful rose bush right outside of his apartment window and I’d been dying to get out and take some shots of the flowers. Friday I finally got around to doing that while Reaghan and I waited for Matt to get home from work. I love taking pictures of flowers. I hope I can find a place for these pics in the new house somewhere, too. I plan to only hang photographs that I have taken in the new house.
When Matt got home from work (he took the afternoon off Friday) we toured around the island. It was a gorgeous day. 50 degrees is the new 70 for us.
We went to Deception Pass (above) and then drove down to Whidbey Island to the city of Oak Harbor. Because it was so pretty and clear, we could see Mt. Baker perfectly. We drove up to the top of Mt. Erie on Fidalgo to get a better view of Mt. Baker and the Canadian Cascades. What a view!
