The Flip I designed for myself
So last night Reaghan and I got the aforementioned Olympic Care Package that Matt sent us! Reaghan was so excited. We had originally thought it would arrive Thursday. I had pre-planned that I would video Reaghan opening the package with my new Flip camera. I got it out and hit record. We ripped into the package and…
Oh, here’s the part where I’d love to show you a video and tell you about all the fabulous things that Matt sent us. But I can’t. And here’s why.
So, I’ve got the video on my Flip and as Reaghan is taking her shower I think, “I’ll pop this bad boy right into my computer and import it into iMovie while Reaghan is showering. That way it will be all ready to go when she’s asleep and I can sit down to edit.” But then 5 minutes later I’m still trying to get the flipping Flip USB to fit into the flipping USB port on my MacBook. (And warning I will say “flipping Flip” and “flippyty flip Flip” a lot in this post because I think it’s mildly humorous that it actually *is* a “Flip” Recorder AND it was really making me frustrated to the point that I felt like cussing. But I really don’t cuss. But I REALLY wanted to in this case.)
So I DM Shannon (and for those non-twitterers, a DM is a Direct Message or private message that you send via Twitter):
I say this to Shannon.
And she responds:
Shannon says this to me.
And I’m all:
I say this back to Shannon.
So, then I think, “Hey, this is the flipping age of communication. Maybe if I post my woes on Twitter publicly someone will help a gal out. So I post this:
And in the meantime, I continue to try to get the flippity flip Flip to flipping fit into the USB port on my computer. And I’m feeling like I’m not smarter than a 5th grader because I’m like “Why won’t this fit? It’s just a USB thingy, amirite?!” But I get more and more frustrated. So I DM Shannon again:
I say this to Shannon.
And then I come right back and say this to Shannon.
And then I thought this is really funny because it *is* a Flip…oh, I said that already.
So I check back on Twitter. And lo and behold a friend of mine told me that for some reason the flipping Flip USB won’t fit into older MacBook Pro’s USB Ports. He said I would need a USB extender And I’m all “You’ve got to FLIPPING be kidding me.” Isn’t a USB port a USB port? Apparently not for some reason. Thanks, Flip. But in the back of my mind I’m thinking about those cute yellow and pink USB extenders that I saw on The Flip Store and thought. “Wow, how cute. But I don’t need one.” BUT OH HOW I DO NEED ONE.
So I thank my friend and hope that tomorrow I can find the flipping Flip USB extender because, DARN IT! I really wanted to post that video and the pics of all the cool swag that Matt sent us from Vancouver!

Yeah, so this is what being a single mother, your husband living 2,200 miles away from you, selling your house and training for a marathon will do to you. I obsess over the small things.

Hmmm… Probably shoulda’ brought it next door so I could copy it onto my “PC” hard drive and then put it on a flash drive that ’should’ fit into your mac’s USB port.
I would do that for a neighbor. That’s how I roll.

I see why you would Flip out! No one likes having more small parts to keep track of. At least it works now. Where’ the video?
