Matt had a great opportunity last weekend. He got to go to Vancouver to the Olympics! I’m really happy he got to go. One of the physicians he is working for offered Matt a ticket and invited him along with his family. He said they had a great time. Apparently, they had passes to a restricted access USA tent where they got to visit booths and stores exclusive to the athletes and sponsors. Two of the physician’s neighbor girls went a long as well. One of them works for her college paper. She took many of these pictures and gave them to Matt to send to me. So get ready for a lot of pictures!
The park pictures are from the USA side. The Peace Arch sits right on the border and commemorates the Treaty of Ghent in 1814. Matt said it was pretty easy to cross into Canada, but coming back into the USA took a while.
These are just some various sights of Vancouver as they made their way down to the Olympic Village.
I think these little guys are so cute.
Inukshuk rock statue someone created.
Mural of Olympic Hall of Fame athletes in the USA House.
Olympic Rings on a barge in the Straight of Georgia.
Matt with Olympic Rings.
Olympic Torch.
Matt had a great time. He said there were so many people there. They did not go see any events, but just toured around the Olympic Village and then got their private tour of the USA House. He said you could line up to get unobstructed views of many of these things, but the lines were about 2 hours long! Wow.
Matt also did some shopping in the USA House at the Nike and Ralph Lauren stores. Hmmm! He has sent some presents back to Oklahoma for Reaghan and me. Reaghan is dying to get it. I just got my new Flip camera in the mail, so maybe we’ll try some video of her opening her package. I’m really excited about having that little thing. I designed the image that is printed on the front of the camera. It’s so cute & teeny! I am looking forward to taking it to Washington when we go to have video to bring home to show family and friends about where we will be living. I’m not sure I’m ready for any video blogging like Shannon, but a few videos here and there of our activities might be fun.
I hope you liked all the pictures. I wish we could have been living in Washington already to go with Matt. I do look forward to visiting Vancouver to see where they held some of the events at some point in the future. Whistlter looks so beautiful, so I’m very excited to go there someday, too.
